More Than Enough

“I think there are more than enough of guys like you out there.”This was the response that I got from a friend when I asked him if he was interested in becoming a part time private investigator. I was expecting something worse than that, though. The last time I asked somebody if he was interested in conducting background checks for a living, all I got was a sarcastic “Yeah, right. As if that could even pay my phone bill.”

I don’t blame them for being skeptical about it. Some people think that you need a government accreditation or license to be a private eye. Others bear the opinion that there’s no money in this venture. Both inferences are erroneous, of course. You don’t have to worry about any bureaucratic red tape to start investigating people for somebody. Your bank account won’t even have to suffer by deciding to take such an undertaking. In fact, you might even do your savings account some favor by actually adding some substantial amount to it. I took on a seemingly difficult people search case last month. Guess how long it took me to solve it – 45 minutes. And how much did I earn? $150. Pretty amazing, huh?

I would be a fool to reveal this fact to you. I mean, I could’ve just kept my mouth shut and horde all the prospective clients for myself. But the reason why I’m encouraging people to try being their own private eye is because the demand is great. There’s more than enough for everybody. Try it, if not for the money, then just for the challenge of finding out something about somebody using the resources on the Internet.
