4 Tips on How to Become a Private Eye to Celebrities
Private investigation work can be very exciting. But of course, that all depends on the kind of assignment you get hired for. If you’re a big fan of intrigue, scandal and high profile persona, the best place for you to ply your trade would be where the stars are. Here are tips on how you can become a private eye for celebrities:
Be in the right place.
Celebrities tend to flock where their work is. So if you want to work as a private eye for the stars, be available in their location. For example, Hollywood is the place to be if you want to work with those in the film industry, New York is best for businessmen and socialites, Washington is a great place for politicians, etc.
Determine which type of celebrity you wish to work with and then build your company or practice where their ’stomping grounds’ are.
Build your rep.
Celebrities tend to be rich, which means they are capable of paying for the best private investigation services available. To become the best P.I. in your field, you must first earn your brownie points.
Experience in conducting private investigations successfully will help you get noticed – if not by the celebrity, then by their ‘people’. Years of doing P.I. work, building a good number of successful case files, strengthening your contacts and becoming a recognized detective will get you the job. Got involved in a high profile case? That should get you in the celebrities’ radar.
Have the right connections.
You could be the best private eye in Wichita or New Jersey but no one in the world of celebrities might give you a second glance if you don’t have the right contacts. Try to build your acquaintances with people who can point you to someone in a celebrity’s close circle. That could mean an old friend, someone you used to work with, a person you met at the bar, etc.
Don’t be afraid to start small. Just because someone isn’t a big star doesn’t mean his or her case isn’t worth taking.
Honor the code.
The code here refers to ultra confidentiality. Celebrities are high profile people and very often, they or their management prefer to keep a specific public image. As a private eye working with celebrities, you will have to know how to keep secrets and practice a high degree of tact.
Celebrities prefer to hire private eyes they can trust. If you must build your reputation, learning when to keep your mouth shut and your sources secret are the best ways to do it.
