Protect Your Identity and Find Lost Loved Ones with an SSN Search

Many people mistakenly think that an SSN search is only for those conducting business. In fact, a SSN search is beneficial to a wide range of people, including you. Since your social security number is an essential part of how the world sees you, it is important to search yourself to find out what is out there.

The information contained in social security records is invaluable. Not to mention, it is also a good way to protect yourself against identity theft.

How does a Thief Steal Identity with a Social Security Number?

A thief who knows your social can easily steal your identity. By knowing some basic information about the victim, the thief can use that as proof they are the victim. Once they have your personal information, the thief can then claim with proof, they are who they are claiming to be. The victim has no way of knowing their identity is even compromised.

Protect your ID with Regular Monitoring

Your best protection is vigilance. If you regularly monitor your SSN records, then you will know immediately when someone tries to steal your identity. The second they open a bank account, you will know where they are and what they are doing. There is no better protection against identity theft than catching it before it starts.

How Else Can a Social Security Search Help?

Since the social security number is directly related to a given person, it is easy to track someone through the social security number. Even after a person dies, the social security number is updated. Many professional and amateur genealogists use the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) to trace records of the deceased.

The SSDI contains the basic information on the person. Looking through it, you can find:

  • Name
  • Birth Date
  • Birth Place
  • Place of Death
  • Date of Death
  • Last Known Address

This is great information for anyone trying to trace lineage or find family. Once you have a name, date of death, and place of death you can easily find obituaries that list surviving family members. Of course, you can search death records without all that information but it does make it easier.

Curious about your social security number? You can conduct your own SSN search now and find out what information is out there about you. You might be surprised by what you find.

3 Bankruptcy Search Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Are you making some of the common bankruptcy search mistakes? Do you want to improve your results and get information quicker at the same time? You will want to keep these bankruptcy search tips in mind the next time you do a search.

Mistake #1: Wasting Time Searching Paper Documents
Yes, you can go through the National Archive to search for bankruptcy documents. But why would you? Searching there means you have to travel around to find the right archive and then search through years of documents hoping to pull up the right case.

Solution – Utilize online court searches. Even if you need a certified copy, searching online first helps you narrow down your search. Online you can check all 50 states from the comfort of your own home. In addition, you get the results instantly. What could take you days or weeks to find in an archive is readily available online. Once you find the case, you can easily request an official copy with the docket number.

Mistake #2: Not Knowing What Bankruptcy Case You are Looking for
When you are searching through tons of court cases, it helps to know what you are looking for. Even an online search is not a mind reader. It can only provide you information on what you know you are looking for.

Solution – When it comes to bankruptcy cases, there are three main types. You can look for Chapter 7, Chapter 11, or Chapter 13. There are other bankruptcy cases but these are the main three. Determine which one you are seeking and your search will narrow down fast.

Mistake #3: Searching Too Little through Court Documents
Is a bankruptcy case what you really need? Does it have to be a bankruptcy case or will another court document do? Maybe you don’t need a court case at all. Sometimes the information you are seeking comes in the places you least expect.

Solution – If it does not have to be a bankruptcy case, then search all court records. When you use an online database, you can find records you did not know existed. Sometimes broadening your search actually helps you get better results.

The easiest and fastest way to find court cases is with an online database. You can start your bankruptcy search now and avoid all the common mistakes. The information you are looking for could be just minutes away.

Why Would Anyone Do an SSN Lookup?

When it comes to looking up information on people, you can never go wrong with an SSN lookup. A person’s social security number is about as individual as you can get. In fact, if you have a person’s social, then you can rest assured knowing that all the information you find will be on that person.

Why do an SSN lookup?

Employment Check – There are many reasons to use an SSN check. The most widely used reason is for an employment background check. Whether you own a large business, want to hire a crew for your home, or simply want to hire a nanny, a social security check will provide you the information you need on anyone.

Nosey Neighbor - Sometimes people just want to be nosey. They are curious about co-workers, neighbors, and other people in their lives. Then they get their hands on this juicy piece of information and cannot resist. They just simply must look up all the information they can. (This is another reason to keep you SSN well-guarded.)

Finding Someone - If you have a social security number, tracking down a lost loved one is super simple. You can check all kinds of records to find out where they are now. Parents often have their children’s SSN. Ex-husbands and ex-wives can find the SSN on old tax records. If you shared a bank account with someone, it might be there as well.

The SSN gives more info than you think

It is a little known fact, that you do not even need a search to find some valuable information from a social. Since 1973, all social security numbers have been given from a central office and that number is based on where you live. Even before 1973, the numbers were based on where you live but it was given by a district office.

This means that if you have the first three digits of the SSN, then you now know what state they received their SSN. This is crucial anytime you are trying to locate someone. Any information you can get is good information.

You can find a complete list of the states and their corresponding numbers at the Social Security Number Verification Service website.

Where to conduct a SSN search

Since the SSN is very private, you will not want to trust the number to just any database. You will want to make sure they keep the searches confidential and private. For a quick and easy SSN lookup try a professional that guarantees your satisfaction.

Find Court Judgements Anonymously

When doing criminal background checks or searching through various other records, you may come across court judgements. This happens quite frequently when you are trying to find adequate help, especially since you will always want to run a background check on babysitters, nannies, housekeepers, or anyone else that enters your home.

Of course, you can run a check on anyone you like. Some people look up neighbors. Others look up the records to find judgments against exes. Since they are so easy, people everywhere are looking them up.

Background checks are simple to perform
Once online, you can find several companies that will provide a background check for a fee. This is great since you used to have to hire a private detective to do these kinds of checks. Now, you can do it all online if you have enough personal information on the potential applicant.

The more information you have on the applicant, the faster and the more reliable your results. You will want a first and last name at the bare minimum. Birth date and previous last name is also helpful. If you can get a social security number, then that is even better.

What you can expect to find with a criminal records lookup?
The criminal background check should give you basic information such as the person’s home address. It will also give you some basic family information, schools, and some previous employers.

Of course, any criminal history will also turn up. Both major and minor criminal offenses can show up as well.

Is it legal to do a people search on anyone?
Since so much information is out there, it is only natural to think it can’t be legal. This is not true. It is perfectly legal to search the criminal background of anyone you choose.

  • If you have a neighbor that acts a little shady, then check them out.
  • If you want to know about the handyman coming into your house, then check them out as well.
  • Someone you know dating a creep…check them out.

Word of warning on criminal background checks
Once you search, you find out information you may not want to know. It happens that people do a “curiosity” search on a boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse and find out things they wish they didn’t. These files are very thorough and very accurate.

If you do not want to know the background information, then please do not search. However, if you do want to know everything, then by all means start searching and see what court judgements turn up.

How to Investigate your Nanny or Babysitter using Court Information

Personally, I know four people expecting babies in the next couple of months. As my personal gift to all of them, I am searching through court information for them. Now, some may wonder what babies and court information may have in common, but it all comes down to safety.

Court Records Search for Child Safety

When the baby is born, every mother I know will need to go back to work. This means that they will need someone to watch the baby. We do a variety of checks to make sure the babies are in the best of care while with the babysitter.

How to Investigate a Nanny/ Babysitter

You will need:

  • First, get the full name and any previous names of the babysitter.
  • Ask for a birth date as well.
  • If you feel comfortable, ask for the social security number. (While not required, it does make checking easier.)

Criminal Background Check:

You will want to start with a criminal background check. This way you can find out immediately what kind of past your potential sitter has. Personally, I do not eliminate nanny’s and sitters just because they had something on their record. However, if they have a history of shoplifting, then I am careful not to leave them in my house.

Driving History Check:

If you plan on letting the sitter take your baby anywhere, then you will definitely want to do a driving history check. You want to know if they have speeding tickets or have a large amount of accidents. Again, I don’t disqualify a person based on one accident but I do check.

Employment Check:

Many people skip over this step thinking it is unnecessary. For me, I want to know what kind of work history this person has. Do they tend to flop around jobs at will? I want someone to stick around with the children and not someone that is flaky and can leave at the drop of a hat.

Verifying References with Checks

Since references can easily be faked, I do reverse phone look-ups to see where the number comes from. I want to see if the name matches the one given. Cell phone records may be on a family plan but even this should tell you something. The numbers should be different and not all connected to the same person. I then do a quick search on the person to see if the information matches what the reference says. They couldn’t watch someone’s kids if that person does not have any kids.

You too can search court information and find out everything you need to make sure the Nanny or sitter is safe. The searches are completely confidential and can be done in the privacy of your own home.

Are You Being Scammed? How Researching Vital Statistics Can Save You!

Vital statistics can be an easy and fast defense against scam artists who are going to use every lie at their disposal to gain your trust and lift your pocketbook.

Long-range scams are pretty common when a person is trying to trick you out of large amounts of resources. In these scams, a person will use every trick in the book to gain your trust so that you (willingly!) hand over personal and financial information.

Identity theft, business take-over, and draining your bank account are just a few of the goals that these tricksters have in mind.

Recent Death of a Loved One

A classic pattern a scam artist might run on a witless victim involves these scenarios:

•    A long lost family member has died. They need your information to give you access to money left to you in a will.

•    The scam artist has been recently widowed. She appears vulnerable in order to gain access to your trust and eventually… your pocketbook.

•    General death, mishap, or abuse in the family. The scammer claims that he needs money somehow to cover death fees, burial costs, escape from hostile people, or money transfers (of which a percentage is usually promised to the mark). This usually involves the “Nigerian Scam” or the “419 Advanced Fee Fraud”.

•    Fencing a stolen car. You may be buying a hot car that “grandma only drove to church on Sundays”. There are several excuses why they might not have proper documentation, titles, etc. If it sounds fishy, get out of the deal and do the research!

Check Up on Birth Documents and See if You are Dating an Illegal Aliens

A person may claim to be a legal citizen, but really they are in a relationship with you or someone you know in order to gain citizenship. By the time you find out their real motivations, it’s too late!

These people marry or have children in order to gain or maintain citizenship. Once they have a child in a country, they are automatically granted that citizenship.

These are called “anchor babies” because having a child, in the US for example, means that they get to stay and raise their child there.

Be very wary of these people, you may be surprised at what they’re willing to do to get what they want.

Identity Theft or Collect the Prize Scams!

So many scams offer promises of riches, fame, easy money, and everything else, that most people just hand over their personal identity without more than a second thought.

Anything that promises to be too good to be true probably is!

Get to their identity before they can get to you! They will take measures to give you a fake identity, and once you realize they’re a fake, send them on their way (to the police, preferably).  Don’t be fooled by liars, cheats, and conmen. Check their vital statistics immediately, before it’s too late!

Are You Married to a Cheater? Signs of Infidelity

No one likes to think that their partner is cheating, but sometimes the signs of infidelity are so numerous they are like a slap in the face. On the other hand, you may not know what the signs are and you are wondering, “Is my partner cheating?”

The Cold Hard Facts of Cheating Spouses
Statistically 50% of men who suspect their wives of cheating are correct and 85% of women who suspect their husbands of cheating are correct. This does not mean that men cheat more than women do. It just means that by the time a woman suspects her husband, she is normally right.

When Do People Cheat?
Most affairs occur as they present themselves. They are crimes of opportunity. That is to say people do not go around looking for an affair as much as they sort of fall into an affair. It happens with people they work with, carpool, go on a business trip with and that sort of thing.

Of course, that does not make the affair any easier, and it certainly does not make the one being cheated on feel any better. As a spouse, you have no protection because you just have to hope your husband/wife will not have an affair.

Common Signs of an Affair

  • Objects Appearing in the Home – Sometimes the person will purposely leave an object hoping to be caught. This way the affair will be revealed and the jig will be up.
  • Weird Remarks - Friends and coworkers may drop hints by saying weird remarks to you. Pay attention to the remarks. They just may be giving you hints to the affair.
  • Change of Clothes - Your Spouse coming home in a different set of clothes than he or she went to work in. Many times after an affair, the cheater will shower. Occasionally, they will change clothes as well.
  • New Friends - When someone has an affair, he or she start hanging out with a new person. In turn, he or she hangs out with a new group of people. This means new friends. If your spouse suddenly has a new set of friends, then cheating may be the cause of the sudden popularity.
  • Secret E-mail – When e-mails are deleted and computers are shut off; suspicions should hit a high note. Obviously, something is being hidden. The question is what are they trying to hide and why?

When signs of infidelity are suspected, action needs to be taken. Start taking action now. Check those phone records. Do background checks. See if he has got any secret property out there. You don’t need to hire a private eye. You can be your own private eye and check him out yourself.

Online Divorce Dockets: Everything You Need to Know to Help You Understand the Divorce Record

If you are trying to find information about a divorce docket online, then here are some things that you will want to know. If you don’t know this already, a divorce docket is a schedule and record of the divorce proceedings as filed by the court system.

A docket is also considered a calendar of events. So, if you suspect that a person intends to file for a divorce, then you might want to check the court’s docket system to see if any complaints or divorce papers have recently gone on file.

A family may try very hard to hide the initial stages of a divorce from the public. But, if large sums of inheritance or other intimate matters are on the line, then it might be best to confirm that a divorce request has been submitted to the courthouse.

Divorce Dockets Online

You can access the upcoming schedule of divorce cases by searching an online divorce docket.

The most private and efficient way to do this is to find a site that specializes in tracking down that divorce record information for you.

It can be much faster than hiring a private eye (who will likely just use an online resource and charge you an unnecessary overhead). It will certainly be much faster than showing up and requesting the information in person.

Docket Terminology

Divorce documents can contain terminology that is confusing for the layperson. If you were not directly involved in the divorce, then you may want to search for sites that outline these terms for you.

That way, it will be easier to digest and understand the information provided by the divorce record. A website that can provide this information for you might also be helpful in tracking down other public records necessary for your research.

You wouldn’t want to raise a fuss about something that you’ve misunderstood. A relationship would go downhill very fast if you accused someone of something that they are actually innocent of!

Maintain Privacy and Discretion

Even though divorce records are public domain, it might be in your best interest if the information is not known by several parties.

Searching online is an excellent way to find the information you want without it passing through several hands. The less eyes on this information, then the better. Divorce documents will contain personal and private information that could be harmful to the parties involved if the information went completely public.

It is likely that you don’t want some frustrated clerk handling these papers. Not only are they very busy (and could take a long time with the papers), but they might become unprofessionally interested in the information that they find!

While looking for more information involving divorce dockets, hearings, proceedings, and public records, check out this online resource for more information on divorce records and divorce dockets for your researching needs.

How to Catch a Cheating Boyfriend: 5 Signs Your Boyfriend is Cheating

Are you worried your boyfriend could be cheating on you? Maybe you just suspect, but you have to catch the cheating boyfriend. Before you go out and hire a private eye to follow around your boyfriend, here are five signs that your boyfriend is cheating on you.

#1 Boyfriend is Hard to Reach:
If your boyfriend stops answering his cell phone like he used to, he could be cheating. This also holds true for work. When guys start cheating, they start hanging out with the new girl. Nothing pumps a damper on an affair like taking a call from the girlfriend, so they just don’t answer the call.

#2 Lack of Intimacy

  • If he stops spending time with you without a good reason, then he might be cheating. Of course, work schedules change and job hours increase but those are easily explained and paychecks back them up.
  • He stops holding your hand and stops sending you flowers.
  • The biggest telltale sign is he stops having sex with you. He wouldn’t want to cheat on his current girlfriend with you now would he?

#3 He Gets Mad When You Look at His Cell Phone
If you pick up his cell phone by accident and he gets mad, you may want to snoop. Maybe your phone was dead or his was ringing. Whatever the reason, he got mad for no real reason that you can tell.

#4 Odd Computer Sites
So you were on his computer and you see weird chat rooms and e-mails. These are not his usual hangouts. You don’t recognize the people and he has never mentioned them. In addition, he goes there at weird hours.

#5 Your Boyfriend Changes his Appearance
This has got to be the biggest clue ever that a man is cheating. I do not know why guys do not think we will not catch on because we always do. Husbands and boyfriends alike think we are stupid, I guess.

They think that they can dress like hippies one day and then come home looking GQ the next, and we won’t notice. Then give us some flimsy excuse like, “What? I can’t buy some new underwear?” As if they even know what size underwear they wear in the first place!

The Challenge of a Cheating Boyfriend
Ladies, if you suspect your boyfriend is cheating, do not plan revenge. Do not go and make a fool of yourself. Before you go and hire an expensive private eye to track down that cheating fool, catch a cheating boyfriend here.

How to Become a Boyfriend Spy

Do you suspect your boyfriend is up to no good? Do you need a boyfriend spy and think you can’t afford it? Then, there is good news for you.

You can discreetly spy on your boyfriend without anyone knowing about it. You can conduct your own little private eye investigation from the privacy of your own computer without anyone following him around.

5 Signs you need a boyfriend spy

  1. Your mutual friends start acting strange around you.
  2. Your boyfriend doesn’t call you by name when you call his cell phone.
  3. Your boyfriend starts working late.
  4. Your boyfriend stops calling you by your pet name
  5. Your gut tells you something is wrong.

Many times, you do not have a solid reason. The only thing you know for sure is that something just does not feel right. You need to go with this instinct. Your instincts are normally right. Go with them and check.

When in doubt, spy him out

If you suspect something is up with your boyfriend, do a simple boyfriend background check.  It will reveal all kinds of useful information on your man.

  • You can find out if he has a different cell phone that he is keeping secret.
  • Maybe he is married and has a wife and kids. You could be the other woman!
  • It could reveal another property where he lives or keeps another woman.
  • It could reveal another job. (He could have a second job to save up for an engagement ring.)
  • He could be divorced and seeing his kids every other weekend. (You still need to know this.)

How to spy on your boyfriend
You could hire a private eye but that would take time and cost a lot of money. It is much easier to use the Internet and use a boyfriend spy database.

Depending on what you think you might find, you can look up:

  • Marriage/Divorce Records
  • Criminal Records
  • Social Security Records
  • Birth Records
  • Death Records
  • Court Records
  • Adoption Records
  • Background Check

Personally, I would search under background check if I were going to spy on my boyfriend. This would let me know if he was married, divorced, employed somewhere, arrest records and pretty much all I would need to start my private investigation.

If anything peaked my interested, I would then probably switch to the criminal check from there unless something specific in the background check led me in a different direction. As you can see, becoming a boyfriend spy only requires a computer and the Internet. If your gut tells you something is up, go ahead and spy.
